In their report via "the Harry Winston conference call", they announced sales of $67 million during that quarter, an increase of 37% over last years 2nd quarter. Even the U.S., fighting an economic slow down recorded sales of $20 million over the comparable quarter last year which is an increase of 31%. Asian sales were $22.5 million, a 40% increase above the prior year. Consolidated sales increased over 60% resulting in a $28.9 in earnings compared to a loss from operations of $3.9 million over the comparable quarter. The Harry Winston brand increased to $66.9 from $48.8 million comparably.

Everyday there are fortunes won and lost on penny stocks so, definitely do your due diligence before investing because these are very volatile stocks that can have 100 percent gains and losses in just a couple of hours, much different than the larger stocks who usually have a much longer grace period, so to speak. An offshore oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, west of the site of the April blast that caused the massive oil spill.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel says the blast was reported by a commercial helicopter company about 9:30 a.m. CDT Thursday. Seven helicopters, two airplanes and four boats are en route to the site, about 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast.
Ranel says it hasn’t been determined whether the structure is a production platform or a drilling rig or whether workers were aboard. Ranel says smoke was reported but it is unclear whether the rig is still burning

Stocks were higher throughout Asia. The Nikkei gained 1.5%, Shanghai added 1.25%, the Hang Seng was up more than one percent and Australia closed 0.8% higher. European indexes are currently little changed on the day, with both the Dax and Footsie currently flat. US stock futures are essentially unchanged as I write.

As a writer, making Oil and Gas Production sexy is a trick, and I'm not the only writer who says this. Many won't cover the Drillers or the E&P's because it doesn't have the pizazz that the Technology Sector has with it's subsets like Telcom, Mobile Wireless or Gaming that entice small investors

CNBC has been reporting that 2 Hostages are being held in a Washington DC building.  It seemed that the CNBC hosts had little information about who, what and why.  But this is being reported on several wire services.  It had little effect on todays trading as markets continued their strong short covering run continuing to remain up more than 200 in the Dow.

Police reported that a gunman in the Discovery Channel building strong armed 2 hostages and had cyclinders starpped to their backs.  1000 people were evacuated out the back door. This was reported by the local police and confirmed on CNBC.
