Five changes will be made to the Facebook homepage in the upcoming months. Although some of them are minor, others can be seen as strategic moves to promote Facebook’s new goals in the New Year.

1. The first change is that all notifications will be moved to the top left of the homepage, with chat remaining at the bottom right.

2. The Search Box will be placed in top middle of the Homepage. This is said to encourage search usage as well as compete with the real time search engine currently being employed by twitter.

3. Your Profile Picture and status will appear on your homepage

4. Your Inbox will be available on the homepage, which will encourage more private messaging features

5. There will be a new boarder around the main page.

The changes that will be made to Facebook will be more of a refocusing to the user, rather than a redesign. Facebook is promoting its real time search engine and it’s status updates to compete with Twitter. This re-work of the homepage should increase the content creation generated on facebook, and in turn create more buzz on the network as a whole.
