Opel to Cut Jobs Across Europe
General Motor Co.’s Opel plans to close a plant in Antwerp Belgium as well as cut 8,300 jobs across Europe. The brunt of the job cuts will be in Germany where 4,000 will be laid off. 
The downsizing is a “tough reality” of a shrinking auto market as fewer cars are sold during the global recession. European car markets are likely to sell 1.5 million less cars than in 2009. 4 Million less than 2007.
6.0 Aftershock hits Haiti
Well to make matters worse, a 6.0 aftershock has Hit Haiti at around 630 AM this morning. Those who are attempting to aid the Western Hemispheres country are encountering a logistical nightmare. With no infrastructure in place such as hospitals, roads, usable sea ports, or power, Haiti will continue to get worse before it gets better. This earthquake was the straw that broke the camel’s back and from this Haiti will need to be rebuilt literally from the ground up all over again. 
Scott Brown Elected Senator in Massachusetts
Scott Brown, Republican, won a tremendous upset for the Massachusetts Senate election. Analysts are stating that this will throw a big wrench in Obama’s healthcare reform bill. The successful election of Senator Brown creates a one vote discrepancy on the necessary 60 for Harry Reid to overcome the filibuster on the healthcare bill. 
Lady Gaga Collapses in Indiana
Gaga was forced to postpone her West Lafayette, Indiana, concert on Thursday night just moments before she was scheduled to take the stage after suffering from breathing problems. 

Paramedics had to treat her on the scene and told her she was suffering from exhaustion and dehydration.
Text Messaging Donations
The U.S. State department has confirmed today that over 5 million dollars has been donated via text messaging to the Red Cross for Haitian Aid. Figures state that $200,000 are coming in each hour, and close to 6 million is estimated to be raised.
China Responds to Google Threat
Unsurprisingly, the wonderful Government of China has responded to Google’s threat to leave the country with some good old Communist Rhetoric. 
  
According to China, Google is breaking their internet laws. “The Chinese government administers the Internet according to law and we have explicit stipulations over what content can be spread on the Internet.” 
Google Threatens to Leave China
Google has threatened to leave China or allow uncensored search results. 

The line in the was drawn after uncovering a “highly sophisticated and targeted attack on our corporate infrastructure originating from China” aimed at accessing the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists.”
