Father’s Day is an internationally adapted holiday celebrated here in the States on the third Sunday of June. (That would be June 20th) The day to honor your old man was invented by Sonora Smart Dodd, taking cues from Anna Jarvis’s establishment of Mother’s day. The first known celebration of Fathers was on June 19th 1910. The holiday in some form or another is celebrated in over 55 countries across the planet including: Tonga, Germany, Serbia, Uruguay and New Zealand.

Today PC Mall Inc announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Sarcom Inc. has acquired Network Services plus for $7.8 million initially. NSPI has 73 employees, 53 whom are billable IT sources. All of the employees will be joining the Sarcom team except for Ted King, founder of NSPI who is retiring. As of May 31st 2010 NSPI logged revenues of $6.4 million unaudited, 75% of which were generated through service oriented business. 

Going to the movies will always be a special past time in the U.S. No matter how expensive the tickets get, if the release is good enough, you will open up the wallet and turn to page 20. There is just something about it, and despite everyone’s complaints, movie releases continue to be a big part of our culture and industry. Even with the emergence of piracy and bootlegging, movie sales continue to skyrocket with blockbusters such as Avatar, going to the movies has become an experience.

Although it was not as easy to find today, JBI, Inc (OTCBB: JBII) is trading at $2.25, up $.65 or 40% on a strong volume of 92k. In a recent press release, JBI announced the completion of a private placement where 488,779 shares were sold at $4.00 a share raising a total of $1.9 million in capital. CEO John Bordynuik, noted that the capital would serve in running day to day operations and support the Plastic2Oil rollout. 

Summer has arrived, baseball is in full swing, and the kids are out of school. Thinking back, one of my least favorite aspects of summer during grade school was the assigned reading. Although I am an avid reader now, for some reason I could never get into the books that were required of me. It was rare to find one that could grab my interest for very long, and often Spark Notes became my best friend when that hefty book report was due on the first day of school.
